Dragonman, avoid excess/Greed will bring the Weyr distress. Benden Weyr. This Weyr's reputation precedes it. Vicious. Cruel. Power-hungry. An eat-or-be-eaten society has long existed in Benden Weyr; anyone who wants to live must fight for their survival. Rape, murder, torture: It's nothing unusual for Benden Weyr. However, with the death of their former Weyrleader and Weyrsecond in the same blow, Benden Weyr is in chaos. Their new leader is from Fort - once their enemy... Can Benden stand on their own, or is the war in the North close to a victory?
Fort Weyr. Once a Weyr of strict hierarchy, Fort is rapidly making the transformation into all that is hated in Benden Weyr under their Weyrleader, R'anatar. The Weyr once reputed for being a brilliant, militaristic, and strategic opponent in the War has drifted into a Weyr as brutal as Benden Weyr. And now that Benden is open for attack, will Fort press to their advantage...? Fort is known to have rebels within their ranks – how long can they stand the tensions inside of their own Weyr?
High Reaches Weyr. Resettled by a fleeing Fort goldrider, High Reaches Weyr, once living on a dream, has fallen into a living nightmare. From the few Selenitas Riders that have returned from High Reaches, it is clear that drugs have been rampant throughout the Weyr, melting the bonds between dragon and Rider down. Many of the High Reaches Riders are addicted to this mysterious drug – but is High Reaches as helpless as it appears?
Selenitas Weyr. With the Senior Weyrwoman that has led them out of the “Line of Selenitas”, Shmee, dead – a new Weyrwoman who has defected from Benden Weyr Turns previously – and recovering from a devastating attack from Benden, known as the Siege of Selenitas, this Weyr, known for its acceptance of all, is floundering to survive – and stay as far away from the War in the North as possible. But with such a blatant attack – and certainly not the first – is it possible anymore?
